Manchester Futsal Club Youth Academy is excited to announce a brand-new program aimed at introducing grassroots football clubs across Greater Manchester to the exciting world of futsal. Designed to help grassroots players improve their technique, this initiative invites local clubs to experience the fast-paced, skill-driven game that has been pivotal in the development of elite footballers around the world.
An Opportunity to Experience Futsal at its Finest
Grassroots teams from U6s to U16's are welcome to participate in specialised futsal sessions by our expert futsal coaches from our youth academy led by Raducio King. These sessions will offer an exclusive glimpse into our academy’s technical program, which focuses on developing core futsal technique which are transferable to traditional football.
By taking part in our program, players and coaches from grassroots teams will not only gain valuable futsal experience but also understand how futsal can enhance player development. Our coaches will demonstrate the unique benefits of futsal and explain how the game fosters creativity, quick thinking, and technical ability in a way that complements the development of any young footballers.
Ilya Ovechkin, Academy Director, emphasised the importance of this initiative in building stronger connections with grassroots teams:
"This is an important initiative for us to bridge the gap between grassroots teams and futsal. We want to educate football coaches on how they can utilise futsal in their training to improve players technique and give their players new ideas. It’s about showing them how futsal can enhance the sessions they already do in football, while also introducing them to this fast and exciting game."
Raducio King, Head of Coaching at the Academy and Manchester Futsal Club first-team player, expressed his excitement for the program:
"I’m very excited about this program. Having worked at Manchester United for the last 10 years and now heading the coaching at our futsal academy, I have the opportunity to pass my experience on to grassroots coaches. Futsal can really benefit their players individually and enhance overall team performance. At our academy, we are all about improving individual players, and this initiative allows us to show the wider football community how futsal can play a big role in that."
Access to the MFC Skills Challenge
As an added bonus, teams participating in the futsal sessions will gain access to our ongoing MFC Skills Challenge, currently running on Instagram. The challenge provides weekly skill tasks for players to complete, with levels of difficulty increasing each week. This fun, competitive activity is perfect for players looking to improve their technique, and grassroots teams will be encouraged to take part as a team, with opportunities to win prizes and recognition through the club’s social media platforms.
